Por meio de pesquisa de arquivo, filmes, esculturas e paletras-performances, Daniel Frota de Abreu investiga o lugar da montagem e da fabulação na documentação de eventos naturais e históricos. Sua pesquisa costura relações entre práticas de preservação, deslocamentos geográficos de artefatos e implicações políticas na geração de conhecimento científico.
Seu trabalho foi exibido em instituições como Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turim, Itália), Kunsthaus NRW Kornelimünster (Aachen, Alemanha), MAK Center for Art and Architecture (Los Angeles, EUA), Fundação Iberê Camargo (Porto Alegre, Brasil) e Festival Sesc_Videobrasil (São Paulo, Brasil).
Daniel é mestre em arte e design pelo Werkplaats Typografie ArtEZ University of the Arts (Arnhem, Holanda), artista residente 2021-2022 na Jan van Eyck Academie (Maastricht, Holanda) e atualmente pesquisador 2022-2023 no Het Nieuwe Instituut (Roterdã, Holanda).

Through archival research, films, sculptures and lecture-performances, Daniel Frota de Abreu investigates the role of montage and fabulation in the documentation of natural and historical events. His research draws connections between preservation practices, geographical displacements of artifacts and the political implications embedded in the production of scientific knowledge.
His works have been exhibited at institutions such as Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turin, Italy), MAK Center for Art and Architecture (Los Angeles, USA), Fundação Iberê Camargo (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and Festival Sesc_Videobrasil (São Paulo, Brazil).
Daniel holds a master’s degree in art and design at Werkplaats Typografie ArtEZ University of the Arts (Arnhem, Netherlands), is a 2021-2022 Jan van Eyck Academie Resident (Maastricht, Netherlands) and currently a 2022-2023 Research Fellow at Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam, Netherlands).
