Plana typeface is designed as a system that combines the two-dimensional letterforms with their translation into physical space through aluminum structures.
At its core lies a hexagonal grid made up of 4x4 modules, which allows for the projection of an isometric cube and, consequently, a spatial perspective. Using this grid as a foundation, each letter was conceived as both form and space, with their design aspects carefully considering the physical properties required to make them structurally self-supporting in three dimensions.
Once the objects are placed in space, new perspectives emerge, introducing additional shapes into the typographic system. By rotating the original grid, these alternate viewpoints generate new variations that become part of the typeface family.
