Phereoeca uterella, commonly known as the household casebearer moth, is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. Thriving in warm, humid environments, this insect spends its larval stage protected within tiny silk cocoons. These delicate structures are often found hanging on walls in dark, secluded areas such as storage rooms, libraries, inside books, and warehouses, where the larvae feed on dust.
The work consists of wall drawings created with cocoons the artist collected from his studio in Rio de Janeiro. Arranged in an asterisk-like formation, the shape suggests a message or perhaps a footnote about the unnoticed presences that live inside collections.
